GREATER HICKORY HIGH SCHOOL CLASSIC PRESENTED BY THE DALE JARRETT FOUNDATION RETURNS TO GHC

CONOVER, N.C. – Five high school golfers will have a chance to play with Champions Tour professionals during the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn presented by Kia Motors.  The Champions Tour event is hosting its ninth annual Greater Hickory High School Classic presented by the Dale Jarrett Foundation at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, it was announced today. The 10th anniversary Greater Hickory Classic is set for Oct. 8-14 at Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, N.C.

The Greater Hickory High School Classic features two golfers from multiple Hickory-area high schools playing a nine-hole, stroke-play tournament on the Jackson Course at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.  The top-five individual finishers will play in the Dale Jarrett Shootout the next day; each high school golfer will be paired with a Champions Tour player, a sports celebrity and a tournament VIP for Tuesday’s Dale Jarrett Shootout.  Tournament admission is free of charge on Monday, Oct. 8.

Schools that have confirmed participation in this year’s High School Classic are Alexander Central High School, Bandys High School, Bunker Hill High School, Jimmy C. Draughn High School, Freedom High School, Fred T. Foard High School, Hickory Christian Academy, Hickory High School, Lake Norman High School, Maiden High School, Newton-Conover High School, South Caldwell High School and University Christian High School.

The 10th annual Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn presented by Kia Motors is set for Oct. 8-14, 2012 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C.  Tournament tickets are available for purchase through the tournament office or the tournament website below.  The event features a week of special events and attractions, including exhibitions, pro-ams and three days of Champions Tour competition among some of the greatest legends in golf.  Operated by the Greater Hickory Classic Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the tournament donates all net proceeds to charities throughout the Greater Hickory Metro area each year.
