THE GREATER HICKORY CLASSIC FOUNDATION

In 2003, the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn established the Greater Hickory Classic Foundation to guide all aspects of the tournament – including the donation of all net proceeds from the tournament to charities throughout the Catawba Valley region. To date, the tournament has raised more than $1,000,000 for area organizations and in 2011 alone more than $23,000 was raised for charity through the TAP Charity Challenge. Also, Birdies For Zahra’s Playground was founded in 2011 which gave tournament patrons the opportunity to donate to the local Hickory Kiwanis Club’s Zahra’s Playground fund and $10,000 was raised during the 2011 tournament for this great cause. In 2005, the Foundation was officially recognized as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn tournament staff operates under the auspices of the Foundation and is responsible for all facets of tournament development and management.
