The Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn Presented by Kia Motors has announced a date change and an increased purse for its 2008 PGA TOUR Champion’s Tour event.  The tournament will now take place September 8-14, 2008, one week earlier than originally planned, to avoid conflicting with the Ryder Cup.  The tournament has also increased its purse from $1.6 million to $1.7 million for 2008.
 
“We appreciate the Champions Tour’s efforts to minimize conflicts for players and fans with regard to our event and the Ryder Cup,” said Jim Correll, the tournament’s executive director.  “We are also pleased to offer increased prize money this year, which should make the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn Presented by Kia even more attractive to the pros and keep us on par with other Champions Tour tournaments in similar markets.”
